ACTIVITIES

Yorkville English Academy organizes numerous after-school activities.

We believe that students should have fun while learning English! Staff from YEA escort students on field trips to historical sites, museums, tourist attractions and weekend trips.

YEA also offers in-house activities after school including free movies, card parties, wine-tasting and pot-luck lunches and a

welcoming and graduation party. Students are encouraged to attend activities so that they can make friends beyond the classroom and also practice their English skills.

Each month the activity co-ordinator prepares an activity calendar containing various cultural and recreational activities. In addition, evening activities such as movies or dinner are scheduled.

The sporting facilities in Toronto are excellent. Students can join the University of Toronto gym for approximately $30.00 CAD per month. There are also numerous community centres that have swimming, aerobics and team sports.

Optional trips are also planned, typically for one or two days during the weekend. YEA staff supervises excursions outside Toronto that are arranged by the school.

Some activities include trips to:

• Niagara Falls
• Kingston and the 1,000 Islands (boat tour)

• Montreal and Quebec City
• Ottawa
• New York and Boston
• Ski/Snow Boarding
• Camping or canoeing in Provincial Parks

YEA charges a minimal amount for activities. Typically a three-day weekend trip, excluding food will cost approximately $300.00 CAD. Niagara Falls, one day trip is approximately $40.00 CAD.
