Yorkville English Academy offers the following features to ensure the best possible English instruction for your students.

►Excellent English Courses
Yorkville English Academy is an exclusive small school with an excellent English program. The ESL program offers six levels from Beginner to Advanced and a broad range of elective classes. Our curriculum is thematic and offers the student the opportunity to achieve his or her goals.

►Small Classes
Class sizes are restricted to 12 students or less.

►Choice of Programs
YEA offers the following programs:

    • Six levels of English as a Second Language Program. (Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced)
    • General English Program (17.5, 25, or 35 hours a week)
    • TOEIC Preparation Program
    • TOEFL Preparation Program
    • Business English Program
    • Summer/Winter Youth Activity Program

►Professional Staff
YEA teachers are university graduates, experienced and certified to teach English as a Second Language (ESL). The administrative staff can provide support and information if the student requires help.

►International Atmosphere
Students attending YEA are from all over the world. Our nationality quota system ensures there are students from many countries.

►Personal Attention All staff pay close personal attention to each students' needs. Staff help all students adjust to new cultural differences.

►Modern Computer Facilities
The Academy is equipped with a modern computer lab equipped with the latest multi-media hardware and software to assist students in learning English. Students have free access to the Internet and email at no extra cost.

►Cultural Activities
Students will have the opportunity to visit museums, malls, galleries, parks, as well as, cultural and historic sites with staff members of YEA. Our activities co-ordinator organizes weekly and weekend excursions every month.

►Accommodation
Host families are carefully screened and matched to student's preferences. Our co-ordinator monitors the families and students experiences to ensure student satisfaction. Students are provided with three meals daily. Airport pick-up is available at an extra charge.

►English Only Policy
Students are required to speak English at all times at YEA and on all school-sponsored activities.

Placement Test
The Written Placement Test is conducted on orientation day. The test takes approximately one hour to complete. An oral interview is also conducted with a teacher. Based on the written test results and oral interview, students are placed into the appropriate level.

Evaluation
Both oral and written tests will be given. In order to pass to the next level, students must achieve a minimum of 70% in each of the written and oral tests.

Students who are absent for more than 25% or miss more than three consecutive days, without prior approval from the Director of Studies, will not be allowed to advance without the permission of the Director of Studies.

Surveys
YEA conducts surveys every four weeks to ensure our staff, programs, and homestay meet the expectations of our students:
 
   - Each student is requested to complete a survey in the areas of ESL, homestay, and activities program.   
   - Each student is asked to evaluate their teachers at the end of a four week session.
   - Each student in homestay is asked to evaluate his or her accommodation and the homestay family.

Progress Reports
Students receive a progress report at the end of each study block. The report includes test results, participation, attendance and teacher comments.

Awards and Certificates
Upon successful completion of our English programs students are awarded a Yorkville English Academy Certificate of English Achievement indicating the length and program of study. Student awards and scholarships are given out in each session for participation and effort at various levels of study. Student must attend a minimum of 75% of classes and take the final written and oral test in order to obtain a Yorkville English Academy Certificate of English Achievement.

Yorkville English Academy offers scholarships for deserving students. Please contact us for further information.

Graduation
Graduation is held at the end of each 4-week session and consists of:

    • Farewell speech by the Director of Studies
    • Presentation of Certificates
    • Presentation of Outstanding Student Awards

The Director of Studies, teachers and all students attend graduation ceremonies. YEA also arranges for a graduation party where the students can take farewell photographs.
